Ocean Census

Ocean Census is a dynamic, UN Ocean Decade-endorsed project co-founded by Nekton and The Nippon Foundation in the ocean science and exploration field, based in Oxford, UK.

The programme’s mission is to scale the rate of ocean species discovery globally and inspire the public, against a backdrop of biodiversity loss. I joined the team ready to hit the ground running and deliver an in-person and live broadcast launch event, which took place at the Royal Institution, London, and project manage the design and launch of a new website, brand and digital channels.

I stayed with the team for 12-months to help bed in digital channels, brief photographers, commission artwork and source suppliers for a range of products including print, apparel and OOH, develop a newsletter, create digital content, manage events, including a Satellite Event at the UN Ocean Decade Conference 2024 in Barcelona, work closely with a high-profile Alliance of partners, and produce copy and campaign planning for a series of Year 1 expeditions to New Zealand, the Arctic, Macaronesia, and Hawaii.
